FW: What to Take to Bed With You

What to take to bed with you - not a joke .
Pretty neat idea. Never thought of it before.
clip_image001
Put your car keys beside your  bed at night
Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across.  Put your car keys beside your bed at night.
If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car.  The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.  This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:  It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage.  If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around.   After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is   something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.
P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him.. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.
Please pass this on even IF you've read it before. It's a reminder.

Malaysia: Where will we be in 2020

Malaysia: Where will we be in 2020......? (Must Read)

Where is our direction for our next generation..?

For those who started work around 1973, a 1.3 Litre Japanese car was RM7,000.
Today the equivalent is.... let's say RM60,000.......8.5 times

In 1973 a double storey house was about RM45,000..or less.
Today it is about RM300,000............6.6 times

In 1973 an Engineer's pay was RM1,000.
Today it is about RM2, 000+/-...........2 times....

From 1973 to 2008........35 years......what is the Trend?
Bearish!!!!

In a stock market when the trend is bearish, what do we do? ..Exit !!!
When a country's trend is bearish what do we do?

This Bearish trend is more difficult to turn around as compared to the stock market.

I have used these 3 items: House, Car & Salary as a measurement of the country's performance for the past 35 years....
Foreigners also ask about these 3 items to gauge our standard of living.

There is a book I saw entitled: “Malaysia : The Failed Nation”.
Some of you may be interested to read it. I agreed with the writer.....

This morning I was having coffee at McDonald (now the coffee..100 % Arabica beans..is quite good @ RM 2.90....free refill !!
I asked how much per hour is their pay?
RM3.00 x 8 hours = RM24 per day x 25 days = RM600 per month

My daughter works part-time during her University days..she worked at Gloria Jeans Coffee.... The pay?
Australian $14.00 @ 3.15 = RM44 per hour x 8 = RM352 per day x 25 days = RM8,800 ...13.3 times more !!!!!
......Price of houses in Perth is about the same in KL.

Price of cars are about 23% cheaper in Perth.

I think more and more people are becoming aware of this Bearish trend.

Developed country by 2020...means High income country!!

Let's look at some as of year 2005 (Financial Times)
USA GNP per capita US$35, 400
UK GNP per capita US$25,510
Australia GNP per capita US$19 ,530
Singapore GNP per capita US$20,690

These are developed countries by income measurement....
Malaysia 's GNP per capita US$3,540

Year 2020..developed country?

Really...a sad story. Worrying Trends, isn't it??

Ringgit sliding further and further under BN.

Recently, I interviewed some fresh graduates applying for jobs with my engineering company.
I accepted two applicants on a starting salary of RM1,600. It struck me as odd that 15 years
ago, I myself started work as a fresh graduate engineer for the same pay.

Indeed, if you compare the salaries of graduates now and 15 or even 20 years ago, you'll find
little difference but that their purchasing power is vastly different. It's the same story when you
compare salaries of shop assistants, office staff, factory workers and others.

To compound the effect of inflation, the ringgit has depreciated greatly against all major currencies.
The real income of most Malaysians has moved backwards.

This is why many Malaysians suffer under the petrol hike. The root of the problem is that our real incomes have shrunk in the face of inflation and depreciated currency.. Malaysians have not been spoiled by subsidy but are unable to move out of the time lock of stagnated and depreciated incomes.

If you compare the per capita incomes of Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, they are a few multiples of ours although at independence all these countries were the on the same economic level as Malaysia. We we grouped with them and were called Asia little Tigers. Today all of them have progressed and become 1st World (OECD) except us. We are now compared with second tiered Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam who also seem to have overtaken us...!

What has gone wrong? We were the rising star of East Asia, a country rich in natural resources with the most promising potential.

The reason is massive corruption, plundering of resources, wastage of funds for huge non-economic projects, anti-public interest deals with politically-linked companies (cronies)and passing-of-the-buck to the man in the street..For example, Hong Kong and Singapore eradicated massive corruption in the 80s-90s with their ICAC and promoted transparency and meritocracy with wolrd standard education to uplift their economies. They now have universities ranked in the World's Top 50 (none in the 80-90s except University Malaya ).

Four decades of NEP where education, economic and employment policies are defined by race ensured that meritocracy took a back seat.

Our university standard has declined and today the best and brightest of our youths emigrate to escape the racial inequility only to contribute to the economies of foreign lands.

The reputation of our judiciary which was held in high esteem worldwide has sunk so low that foreign investors now insist on arbitration in Singapore in case of any dispute.

We also have a slew of oppressive laws such as the ISA, OSA, Uuca and PPPA which stifle free speech and are designed to keep the ruling parties in power.

We have become less attractive to foreign investors and now lag behind our neighbours in Asean for foreign direct investment. Even some corporations who have established themselves here are moving out.

All the economic and social malaise cannot help but affect the value of our currency. The strength of a country's currency is after all, a reflection of its fundamentals.

Furthermore, Bank Negara has a policy of weak ringgit to help exporters, never mind the burden on the common folk. The government is pro-corporation, not pro-rakyat.

While the poor and middle-class are squeezed, an elite group gets breathtakingly rich. We have the distinction of having the worse income disparity in Asean. A re-distribution of wealth is under way from the poor and middle-class to a select group of politically-connected elite.

The end result of this re-distribution will be a small group of super-rich while the majority are pushed into poverty and the middle-class shrinks. This is what happens when the rich gets richer and the poor get poorer.

There is much that is wrong with Malaysia . The responsibility for pulling the country backwards can be laid squarely at the door of the ruling regime. It is BN's mis-governance, racial politics and culture of patronage which has seen the country regress economically and socially.

We seem to be sliding down a slippery slope, further down with each passing year of BN's rule. Another five years of BN rule and we'll be at Indonesia's standard under Suharto. Another 10 years and we'll be touching the African standard. What a way to greet 2020!!!!

Is there any hope for Malaysia?

Faced with the reality that BN will never change, many Malaysians desperate for change turn their lonely eyes to Anwar Ibrahim.

Pakatan Raykat has promised to treat all races fairly, to plug wastage, fight corruption, reform the judiciary and make Malaysia more competitive.

But some have questioned whether we can trust Anwar and his loose coalition of disparate parties..

The question is not whether we can trust Anwar and Pakatan Rakyat but whether we can afford not to.

Can we afford another ten years of BN's misrule?

WE have the power to do something in GE13; OUR FUTURE IS IN OUR OWN HANDS!!!

Fw: About EPF... must read...

If ONE (1) of our Nominee in the EPF Nominees list deceased, automatically the whole arrangement (EPF Nominees list) is VOID. Meaning if, you only put in One (1) name & unfortunately he/she dies before you – automatically EPF will channel your EPF money to trustee of AMANAH RAYA upon your death.

Thus if, you DO have few names in the EPF Nominees list still - the whole arrangement is VOID & none of the individual balance name in the EPF Nominees list will get their potion & automatically EPF will channel your EPF money to trustee of AMANAH RAYA upon your death.

Piece of advice - if any of the your Nominee in the EPF Nominees list decease, please do immediately approach the nearest EPF counter & present the Death Certificate of the individual & re-instate you NEW / LATEST Nominee in the EPF Nominees list + NEW / LATEST percentage
.

If, you & the other party (maybe spouse) involved in the same misfortune (accident / illness) that caused death to both yourself / spouse please, please, please alert your siblings / relatives / parents to immediately approach the nearest EPF counter & share the information within 3 days to AVOID all EPF money to be surrender to trustee of AMANAH RAYA.

Upon surrender to trustee of AMANAH RAYA, your children will have to battle the money thru 3 channels;

Majlis Agama

Pejabat Tanah

Mahkamah

The normal period via above 3 channels usually takes 2-3 years (except if you have inside/tip top connection) at Amanah Raya.

FW: Guideline for the use of surgical mask (A H1N1 2009 )

Dear All,
As this kind of virus is droplet spread, the surgical mask is an essential protective barrier for this outbreak. As a result, the surgical mask became in short supply. Therefore, everyone should know the corrective way of use to create the utmost efficacy.
However, there are several questions about wearing surgical mask such as:
There are 2 sides of surgical mask and the white color side contains filter. The corrective ways of use are:
- If we have flu, the white side should attach to our face (the color side faces out) to filter the micro-organism not to spread them out to others
- If we are not ill, the white side should face out to protect micro-organism from environment to come to contact with us

FW: Earlier symptom on H1N1

Hi all,

I was just informed by my GM whose her daughter has been down for fever think around 1 week. He took his daughter to Gleneagles Dr. Patrick for check-up. Dr. Patrick has gave him a very useful advice and i just wanted to share it with you guys.

When children has fever, the dr will prescribe the fever medicine to consume either in 4 or 6 hours period. I think all of you guys know very well on this. Normally the fever will go down after taken the medicine, and it will come back after 3 or 6 hours. But if it for H1N1 infectious, the fever will not be going down after taking the medicine and it will consistantly stay at high temperature for hours. And if this condition continous for 48 hrs, then the possibility of H1N1 infectious will be very high. For this case, i mean consistant high fever for 48 hrs, dr will straight away give the patient the H1N1 antiviral treatment, ie Tamiflu treatment for period of 7 days.

Fw:6pm至6am是女生權益(重要咨詢)

Subject: 6pm至6am是女生權益(重要咨詢)
Women's Rights 6 pm to 6 am (important for your knowledge)

Dear all,
Please read and share with your loved one ....

IMPORTANT
Women's Rights 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
I was talking with a lawyer friend of mine.
We were discussing the law and women's rights.

She told me about this incident
- a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain clothes officer;
he asked her to come to the police station when she and her male
friend didn't have a driver's license to show. He sent the boy off to
get his license and asked the girl to accompany him to the police
station.

Took her instead to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed.

In fact, the law clearly states that between 6 pm and 6 am , a woman
has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest
warrant has been issued against her...

It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6 pm and
6 am , ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL
WOMEN police station.
And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a
woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest.

It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use
remains to be seen in any situation. But as they say, knowledge is
power. Just thought I'd share this with you. I did not know this and
am sure lot of us will not know this- please be informed..... And pass
on this info to whom all you know.......

Fw: BEWARE OF DANGER IN MALAYSIA : NEWSPAPERS LYING ONTHE ROAD

Date: Tuesday, June 23, 2009, 8:40 AM

Don’t know if its true……………..

Beware of newspapers lying on the road
If you are driving in
Malaysia , do take note of the advice below..
Please pass this onto yr friends.. Avoid driving over newspapers
strewn on the road It would appear that this technique has reached
Malaysia from Indonesia .

Life here is getting more like in Indonesia these days. This story
which was circulated to me reminds me of the traps set in certain
parts of Jakarta by robbers.. Some people have lost their lives over
this. They drive into certain lonely roads in Jakarta to find pieces
of wood with nails in them on the road. This causes their tyres to go
flat. If they get out of their cars, they are set upon by robbers who
will take everything: their cars, wallets, anything valuable and
sometimes their lives.
Avoid driving over newspapers strewn on the Road a new trap set by
Robbers. This incident happened some where in KL and forwarded to me
by a friend..
This person was driving alone at night when he saw newspapers lying
around in the middle of the road. Without giving it much thought, he
drove pass the stack of papers. No one would expect to find heaps of
rocks and stones beneath the papers!! Wanting to know the damage to
his car, he stopped to check.
Need I say more? The moment he got out of his car, he was robbed by a
group of guys and lost his properties/belongings. Just imagine what
would have happen if this had happen to a girl/woman....
So folks, please be careful, do not stop when you're driving alone at
night no matter what ! Avoid driving over the papers if you see
newspapers lying on the road, this could be a new trick for the
desperate fraternity out there...........!!

(Antibiotik),

FW: Important: NEW FRAUD TACTIC TO GET INFORMATION.

Beware of a new fraud tactic. This just unbelievably happened to me
yesterday (June 3rd 2009). It made me went on a round of frenzies to
lodge report at a police station, cancelling all my credit cards and
changing all my savings/current accounts.

At around 1pm yesterday, I received a call from an Ambank number
which went into an automated machine informing me that I was about to
make a payment amounting to RM3,800.60 and to press 1 to confirm the
transaction or press 9 to speak to Customer Service. Caught by
surprise of such a call, I pressed 9 to speak to their Customer
Service. A guy by the name of Brandon answered and questioned me
whether I am about to make a RM3,800.60 payment which I said no. He
later asked whether I am now at KLIA. I straight away told him no and
that I am now at Kulim, Kedah. This Brandon guy then said that this
looks like a scam and he will immediately stop the RM3,800.60
transaction.

He further asked me whether I had recently applied for any credit
card which I said no. He informs me that there was an application for
an Ambank Mastercard under my name dated April 2nd 2009 with a credit
limit of RM10k and to date, the card has been used up to about
RM5,600++. He further advised me to immediately lodge a report with
Bank Negara’s Pusat Pengurusan Kad Kredit Palsu. I do not have the
number and he offered to connect me to Bank Negara where I spoke to
another guy named Charlie.

The call sounded really authentic and this Charlie guy pretended not
knowing anything and had me told him the story of what happened from A
to Z. Once I finished with my story, this Charlie guy asked me whether
do I suspect any close family members or friends misusing my personal
data for this purpose. He says it could be possible and it is very
important that I do not reveal a single thing to anybody until 6th
June 2009 (3 days) in order for the investigation to take place. He
asked me to provide him all of my banking and credit card details so
that he can monitor and track any unusual activity. I was also advised
not to make any banking or credit card transaction during these 3 days
so that proper investigation can be carried out and the unlawful
person can be intercepted should he/she use the card or make any
banking move.

I called my wife after all this ordeal informing her of what had
happened. She was highly skeptical and told me that things doesn’t
sound right as the so called Bank Negara would not have asked for all
banking details including savings/current accounts if this was just a
fraud card case. She advised me to make another call to Ambank to
check on more details of the so called Ambank Mastercard applied on
April 2nd, including to where was the credit card sent to?

I called Ambank immediately, looking for the Mr. Brandon I spoke to
earlier and the Ambank officer told me that there is no Mr. Brandon in
the Customer Service Department. I related the whole story of what had
taken place an hour earlier and the bank officer advised me to calm
down and to relax. She informs me that this is a fraud case and I need
to lodge a police report immediately. She also informs me that the
Bank Negara telephone number and extension provided to me by the Mr.
Charlie is a fake.

I was truly, truly dumbfounded!!! I have read so much about everyday
frauds and yet I still fall to this trap. I thought I was smart enough
to smell things like this but apparently, this new tactic really feeds
on human behavior when they are in a panicky situation. These guys are
really so so smooth that you tend to believe they are trying to solve
the woes that you are in.

I have been a victim and I hope it ends here. Please pass this on to
your loved ones to warn them of such a new tactic and to beware!!!!

New Credit Card Scam

Snopes.com says this is true. See this site - http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/creditcard.asp

This one is pretty slick since they provide YOU with all the information, except the one piece they want.

Note, the callers do not ask for your card number; they already have it.. This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect your self.

One of our employees was called on Wednesday from 'VISA ', and I was called on Thursday from 'Master Card'. The scam works like this: Caller: 'This is (name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern, and I'm calling to verify. This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (name of bank). Did you purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a Marketing company based in Arizona ?'

When you say 'No', the caller continues with, 'Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. This is a company we have been watching and the charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern that flags most cards. Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to (gives you your address), is that correct?'

You say 'yes.' The caller continues - 'I will be starting a Fraud investigation. If you have any questions, you should call the 1- 800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800-VISA) and ask for Security.'

You will need to refer to this Control Number. The caller then gives you a 6 digit number. 'Do you need me to read it again?'

Here's the IMPORTANT part on how the scam works. The caller then says, 'I need to verify you are in possession of your card'. He'll ask you to 'turn your card over and look for some numbers'. There are 7 numbers; the first 4 are part of your card number, the next 3 are the security Numbers that verify you are the possessor of the card. These are the numbers you sometimes use to make Internet purchases to prove you have the card. The caller will ask you to read the 3 numbers to him. After you tell the caller the 3 numbers, he'll say, 'That is correct, I just needed to verify that the card has not been lost or s tolen, and that you still have your card. Do you have any other questions?' After you say No, the caller then than ks you and states, 'Don't hesitate to call back if you do, and hangs up.

You actually say very little, and they never ask for or tell you the Card number. But after we were called on Wednesday, we called back within 20 minutes to ask a question.. Are we glad we did! The REAL VISA Security Department told us it was a scam and in the last 15 minutes a new purchase of $497.99 was charged to our card.

Long story short - we made a real fraud report and closed the VISA account. VISA is reissuing us a new number. What the scammers want is the 3-digit PIN number on the back of the card. Don't give it to them. Instead, tell them you'll call VISA or Master card directly for verification of their conversation. The real VISA told us that they will never ask for anything on the card as they already know the information since they issued the card! If you give the scammers your 3 Digit PIN Number, you think you're receiving a credit. However, by the time you get your statement you'll see charges for purchases you didn't make, and by then it's almost too late and/or more difficult to actually file a fraud report.

What makes this more remarkable is that on Thursday, I got a call from a ' Jason Richardson of Master Card' with a word-for-word repeat of the VISA scam. This time I didn't let him finish. I hung up! We filed a police report, as instructed by VISA. The police said they are taking several of these reports daily! They also urged us to tell everybody we know that this scam is happening.
